Work began in December last year to transform the University’s Foster, Greenbank and Harrington areas with new facilities, designed to improve the campus experience and provide a place for staff and students to come together in a relaxed environment.
The footage shows one of the facilities taking shape, with the two University buildings off Adelphi Street (Harrington and Greenbank buildings) now linked by a new structure.
The timelapse film also reveals the sheer volume of materials used to date, including 150 tonnes of steel, 700m³ of excavated material and 600m³ of new concrete.
Preston-based Conlon Construction is delivering the scheme, which has been developed in conjunction with the UCLan Students’ Union, and includes areas for break out activities along with informal spaces for social learning.

When the University’s new social spaces open their doors during the 2017-18 academic year they will be the first projects to be completed as part of UCLan’s £200 million Campus Masterplan.
Designed by multi-award winning architecture practice AHR, the facilities form part of the University’s ambitions to create a unified, sustainable and welcoming campus which will enhance the experience for all those visiting the University.
