Group enjoy reunion after being students more than 50 years ago

A group of teacher training alumni have taken a walk down memory lane thanks to the University of Central Lancashire (UCLan).

Ros Elsden, Jennifer Roscoe, Adele Reynolds and Sandra Cockram were all students at the then Harris College, now known as UCLan, more than 50 years ago.

As part of a course reunion, the Harris Alumni were welcomed back to Preston with open arms.

The group took a tour of their old teaching rooms in the Harris Building, as well as their former recreation areas in Foster Building, which are now the Refectory and new £8 million Student Social Space.

As part of their afternoon at UCLan, the ladies were treated to a special access all areas tour of the University’s Special Collection archives where University Historian Keith Vernon and University Archivist Bob Frost gave an in-depth view of artefacts and memorabilia from the graduates’ time at the Harris College in the 1960s.

Speaking about her time spent reminiscing at the University, Adele, who graduated in 1967, said: “Keith and Bob really helped to bring back many memories. We were still reminiscing at midnight!

“I will definitely be hunting through the loft, which is a huge task, to see if I have any memorabilia that could be of some use to the archives.”
