New music artist from Preston, Harvey Brittain - one to watch

24 September 2019

Song will be released by new label UCLan Recordings Group

British rising pop-star Harvey Brittain’s first official single ‘It’s My Paris’, inspired by a young romance in his home-city of Preston, is set to release on Monday, 30 September, by new Record Label, University of Central Lancashire (UCLan) Recordings Group (URG).

Whilst at first glance Harvey may appear to be the unassuming, ‘boy next door’, he definitely deserves a double take. The new single with its soulful, groovy vibe and catchy hook, charts the singer‘s early years growing up in his hometown.

The 17-year-old artist and music student has certainly been making quite a noise lately, both attracting attention within the music industry as well as a growing fan base. Last year, Harvey found himself performing solo in front of 4,500 people at London’s Wembley Arena after being invited to perform on ITVs X-Factor and since then has been headlining his own shows.

Harvey was discovered last year by organisers of Preston Jazz and Improvisation Festival, when he performed on the same stage as music legend Courtney Pine. The city’s music festival is rapidly becoming one of the biggest and most popular music events in the region, attracting audiences of more than 10,000.

"Bearing in mind that his first track is this good at age 17, just imagine how good he‘s going to be in a few years. I feel he has every chance of becoming a big star"

The festival’s director commented: “We were so impressed with Harvey in 2018 that he was invited back this year to headline a performance at the event. We were absolutely delighted by the outcome. It’s no surprise that Harvey’s been signed to URG as a result.”

Meanwhile Harvey Brittain, whose sound has drawn comparison with the likes of Charlie Puth, commented: “Things are going really well. I feel very lucky having such amazing people around me, the talented musicians I work with, my team, my family, friends and of course the people from the region who have supported me so far. I love playing live, and it‘s such a good feeling when people choose to listen to your music.”

Tony Rigg, Consultant for UCLan Recordings Group and former Operations Director for Ministry of Sound, added: “As well as being hugely talented, Harvey is a really modest guy. Bearing in mind that his first track is this good at age 17, just imagine how good he‘s going to be in a few years. I feel he has every chance of becoming a big star.”

‘It’s My Paris’ will be available on all major digital music platforms from Monday, 30 September 2019.
