New Dean to lead Lancashire School of Business and Enterprise

Professor Chris Pyke appointed to key role

The University of Central Lancashire (UCLan) has appointed Professor Chris Pyke as Dean to lead the Lancashire School of Business and Enterprise.

Professor Pyke, an experienced business academic, has previously held senior roles at Manchester Metropolitan University (MMU), the University of Chester and Liverpool John Moores University (LJMU).

A professionally qualified accountant, he is a member of the Chartered Institute of Public Finance and Accountancy (CIPFA) and serves on its North West Regional Council, and has Fellow Chartered Certified Accountant (FCCA) status.

The Lancashire School of Business and Enterprise has been created from the merging of the School of Management and the School of Business.

The new School has over 100 academics and delivers a wide range of business related courses, including accounting and economics courses which have been ranked number one in the UK for student satisfaction in the National Student Survey (NSS) 2017.

"Over the coming months we will be working closely with employers to ensure we develop relevant programmes which produce graduates who meet their expectations and business needs."

Professor Pyke said: “I am passionate about higher education and its ability to transform people’s lives and develop successful careers. I want to create a new School that is innovative and entrepreneurial, that delivers excellent business education programmes and supports local businesses.

“Over the coming months we will be working closely with employers to ensure we develop relevant programmes which produce graduates who meet their expectations and business needs.

“I want to ensure that we give as many people as possible the chance to change their lives by studying at the Lancashire School of Business and Enterprise.”
