A distinguished scholar, translator and writer is delivering a series of free lectures about one of the greatest short story writers in history.
Professor Andrei Stepanov is visiting the University of Central Lancashire (UCLan) throughout March to lead a course of lectures, providing an overview of the life and creative work of Anton Pavlovich Chekhov.
He will focus on the significant stages within each lecture, including his lesser known works from his earlier years and delves into disputable topics, such as his lack of religious belief.
Holding a chair in the History of Russian Literature section of the Philosophy Department of St Petersburg State University, Professor Stepanov is also the author of the book ‘Problems of Communication in Chekhov’s oeuvre’ and has produced more than 100 research papers on Chekhov.
This lecture series is hosted by the UCLan School of Language and Global Studies, it is free to attend and welcomes all.
