Mission to Mars in 3D will take place on 19 September
A free space talk is taking place at the University of Central Lancashire (UCLan) next month.
Mission to Mars in 3D will see UCLan’s Dr Kevin Bowman bring to life the immensity of this quest and explain the most epic journey ever undertaken by humans.
Using a giant two storey screen and with some aspects of the presentation in 3D (glasses provided), attendees will get an immersive experience of space flight as they travel to another world.
The event, which is suitable for children aged seven and over, will take place at 6pm on Tuesday 19 September in UCLan’s Darwin Building Lecture Theatre on the Preston Campus.
Before the event, from 5pm there will be a small exhibition of space related material in the neighbouring Foster Social Space.
They include:
- The opportunity to control a replica rover like the one on Mars
- Take a virtual reality space experience
- Get up close and personal with giant globes of the planets
If the weather is permitting, there will also be availability to observe the night sky using telescopes with expert guidance at hand.
Free tickets are now available online.
