University applauds Super League partner
The University of Central Lancashire is offering congratulations to its official partner Wigan Warriors following the club’s success in the U19s Academy Grand Final win against Leeds.
The Warriors beat Leeds Rhinos 14 - 6 in what is now the club’s ninth Academy Grand Final win in the last 11 years.
UCLan has a long-standing relationship with Wigan, working with both the Academy and first team since 2009. The partnership includes pre-season fitness tests, video analysis support, strength and conditioning training and degree places for key staff members. In return, students on a variety of UCLan courses benefit from working closely with players and staff to gain hands-on, practical experience at a professional level.
Dr Adrian Ibbetson, Head of the School of Sport and Wellbeing at UCLan, said: “We follow Wigan’s progress at all levels throughout the season and it’s fantastic to see the under 19s squad come out on top in a very exciting Grand Final. Staff and students at UCLan work closely with the club to help players and staff be as prepared as possible so it’s great to see the hard work paying off.”
