Angela Magee is rewarded with Fellowship for contribution to dental education
A University of Central Lancashire (UCLan) academic has been honoured for her service to dental education.
Angela Magee, the Head of UCLan’s School of Dentistry, has been selected as a Fellow of Dental Surgery of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons Glasgow.
The Dental Surgery Fellowship is offered to dental surgeons who, in the opinion of the prestigious College, have made substantial contributions to their specialty. Angela has been chosen to recognise her major contribution to dental education.
The Honorary Consultant in Special Care Dentistry said: “I am extremely proud to have been awarded the Fellowship as I have always been a great admirer of the work the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons has done in promoting advances in postgraduate dental education.”
During her distinguished dentistry career, Angela has worked in the Royal Navy, general dental practice, primary care and secondary care before she joined UCLan’s Dental School in 2008. A year later she was made a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy.
Professor StJohn Crean, Executive Dean of the College of Clinical and Biomedical Sciences, said: “I’m absolutely delighted that Angela has been awarded this Fellowship for her hard work and commitment to dental education. She played a key role in setting up and establishing UCLan as one of two newest English undergraduate dental schools. She is a great asset to the University and this is just reward for her years of dedication to this field.”
Angela attended the Fellowship Awards Ceremony with Professor Richard Welbury, UCLan’s professor of paediatric dentistry, who was the past Vice Dean of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons.
