TV Studio (Greenbank Building)
This studio and gallery are used by Journalism Students to produce news programmes and bulletins similar to those of regional TV.
In common with most news studios, the cameras are remote controlled, and the presenters maintain a link with the gallery via wireless microphones and earpieces.
There are Five cameras on the studio floor and one suspended from the lighting grid. The Lighting rig is equipped with the latest low energy, cool running LED lighting units. The Cameras on the studio floor all have Prompter screens and cue screens fitted. Behind the presenters are three large (65inch) screens to display graphics or video.
There is an additional nearby ‘remote ’studio facility for chroma key use, where weather and other items requiring generated backgrounds are produced. The gallery and studio can receive live reports from reporters on location around the region. Due to the innate technical nature of the equipment contained within this studio, there is a prerequisite for students to attend a technical induction and then following that they must complete further course based technical instruction workshops prior to permission being granted for their use of this studio.
- Five HD remote controllable PTZ Panasonic cameras with prompters; Ross Carbonite Vision Mixer; Logitek Helix Networked Audio Console; Avid Airspeed playout; Panasonic Camera Controller; PCs and software to complete the studio system.
The studio is open 7.30am – 9.00pm (weekdays).
