We have different pathways available for the courses. The pathways depend on your current level of Korean language knowledge. The programme is suitable for those interested in learning more about the Korean language and culture.

Sejong Korean Regular Course - 1st Semester

Online Delivery

Term:

  • Monday 13 May to Friday 12 July 2024 (9 weeks)

Delivery:

  • Two pre-recorded classes weekly and two live classes weekly (via Zoom)
  • The class will focus on the Sejong Korean course book
  • This 9-week course will cover half of the course book. The remainder of the textbook will be covered in the upcoming semester, starting in late July.
  • Maximum 15-20 (depending on the class level)
  • A Certificate of Completion will be provided by King Sejong Institute Foundation based on the attendance and the final course exam.
  • The course book is not included. Students can purchase the course book or use an e-book.
  • There are two levels available: Beginner 1A, and Beginner 2A

Age group:

  • 12 years old and above

Korean Alphabet course

Campus taught delivery

This is a course for students with no previous (or minimal) study of the Korean language. It only covers the basic information about the Korean language and the Korean alphabet. It includes exercises and homework on understanding Korean letters and syllable structure. 

Term:

  • Monday 13 May – Friday 31 May 2024 (3 weeks)

Location:

University of Central Lancashire, Preston Campus

Delivery

  • Two in-person classes weekly
  • Tuesdays and Thursdays 5pm-6pm
  • Maximum class size 10
  • Materials, including course book, will be provided by the teacher
  • There will be no final exam or a certificate of completion.

Age group:

18 years old and above

King Sejong Institute Korean Writing

Online delivery

This course is designed to improve students’ writing skills by guiding them to express and expand their ideas step by step. It covers various categories such as society, literature, science, economic, and history. It is delivered in Korean, so students require a qualified command of Korean (upper intermediates – over 3B or TOPIK level 4). Students need to submit their writing assignments and can receive feedback once by the teacher.

  • Monday 13 May Friday 07 June 2024 (4 weeks)

Delivery

  • One online live class weekly via Zoom and Assignment/Feedback 
  • Wednesdays, 6.30pm - 8.30pm
  • Maximum class size 10
  • This Course is delivered in Korean, so it requires qualified command of Korean (upper intermediates – over 3B)
  • Materials: PDF will be provided by the teacher
  • There will be no final exam or a certificate of completion.

Age group:

12 years old and above

The design of the online course structure is unique and high quality, with pre-recorded lessons for the students to study and review as many times as needed. There is also a weekly in-person session with the teacher where the students have the opportunity to clarify questions on the lesson.
