My initial impression of the University of Central Lancashire was that it is a university on the rise.
Over the last few decades, they have achieved significant milestones and introduced courses which are not commonly offered at every university. Their commitment to growth is evident in the recent investments with their state-of-the-art Student Centre and a cutting-edge Engineering Innovation Centre.
The University demonstrates great flexibility and support for students from diverse backgrounds and situations, particularly for international students. It has provided me with the opportunity crucial for my success in this academic pathway. I also feel that the University is a fast-growing institute, and there are opportunities for me to grow.
I have noticed that British education places a stronger emphasis on independence compared to Thai education. In Thailand, education tends to involve longer hours and a more structured approach. In the British education system, there is often more room for students to enjoy their learning experience and participate in extracurricular activities. This balance enables students to mature both academically and personally.
" My tutors and professors are approachable and helpful, being responsive and supportive of both academic content and extracurricular initiatives. "

I’m studying at the National Centre for Remote and Rural Medicine, Westlakes Campus this year and have loved my time here. The scenery is amazing too! We are located right next to the Lake District, which makes weekend getaways quite fun and unique. This opportunity is optional, but when paired with the urban medical experience at the Preston and Burnley campuses, it provides a well-rounded perspective that is invaluable for developing as a future doctor; it is an incredible experience offered by the University.
I have extensively utilised the Library Services at the University of Central Lancashire. The University offers comprehensive library facilities that grant access to a diverse array of resources, research materials, and study spaces. What I particularly appreciate is the library is open 24-hours a day.
Having lived in Bangkok and London, my initial impression of Preston is that it is a beautiful and peaceful city but there are lots of things to do. There are a variety of restaurants, shops, and grocery stores to explore. I particularly enjoy the local market hall, where fresh local food is available, as I enjoy cooking. Additionally, the Students' Union and University Societies host a variety of interesting events, ensuring there's always something exciting to do.
The modern campus is set in the heart of the city but there are many wonderful parks to explore and lots of greenery around the city.
Preston also has a fantastic train station with fast trains that connect to many major cities in the UK such as Manchester, London, and Edinburgh. This makes exploring the UK so much easier!
To future students - make the most of your years at the University of Central Lancashire; do not hesitate to volunteer or run for positions such as Course Representatives and School Presidents. Your priority is to focus on your course, but I encourage you to maximise the university's facilities and the expertise of the staff. Let the University of Central Lancashire be the place where opportunity creates success! Study hard and enjoy university.
