Meet Lauren

From attending an Offer Holder Day myself, I got to experience the atmosphere UCLan has. I returned home confident in the decision that I had made and excited to start in September.

1. Meet your teaching staff

Offer Holder Days are an opportunity to meet key staff members who will be supporting you along your studies.

Before I attended the Offer Holder Day the thought of starting my course felt daunting and a little scary. However, after being introduced to staff on the academic team - who I now see on a regular basis - I left feeling reassured and better prepared to start university.

2. Get answers to your questions

Offer Holder Days are a great environment for any questions you have to get answered. Having questions before you get stuck into your course is completely normal, but I would recommend travelling down to get the answers you need.

On my Offer Holder Day there was a variety of questions being asked, both by myself and other offer holders, which really helped me to get ready to start university.

3. Find out what university can offer to you

From taking part in the Welcome Talk, I became aware of many part-time job opportunities, local amenities and a range of services. This includes wellbeing support and access to our sport facilities.

After hearing about the student ambassador job opportunities being offered at the University, I felt this would be suitable for me, and I am now working as an ambassador alongside my studies.

4. Meet future friends

Offer Holder Days are a chance for you to introduce yourself to potential course peers who you may be sharing this journey with. There are several people that I met on the Offer Holder Day who are now part of my cohort and people that I study with on a weekly basis.

I attended an afternoon session personalised to my course. This allowed me to see that there were other people experiencing the same questions, anticipation and eagerness as me, so this was an ideal time to start getting to know each other.

5. Gain reassurance and confidence

Finally, and most importantly, Offer Holder Days can provide the reassurance that you have selected the right university for you.
