Wenxuan has taken responsibilities as the subject leader for Chinese Studies at UCLan since December 2020. She delivers core modules at all levels in the programmes of BA (Hons) Business Management & Chinese, BA (Hons) Modern Languages, BA Asia Pacific Studies, and BA TESOL with Modern Language. Her teaching focuses on Business Chinese Conversation and Advanced Chinese. Her recent research interests include cross-cultural communication, English as a medium of instruction (EMI) and language policy.
In 2019, she got her doctoral degree in Education at the University of Bath. Before that, she studied for a bachelor’s degree in Teaching Chinese as a Foreign Language and a master’s degree in English Language and Literature (Australian Studies), both from Beijing Foreign Studies University in China.
Wenxuan has more than 10 years’ experience in higher education and she has a good track record for delivering Mandarin courses both in China and in the UK. She was nominated as Lecturer of the Year in 2015 as recognition for giving close attention to all students while teaching a challenging language to learn. Prior to working in the UK in 2013, she was an assistant researcher at Beijing International Studies University, where she was also in charge of educational management and some admin work. In 2020, Wenxuan started her post-doc research at UCL Institute of Education.
