In her current role she is part of a leading team that is developing the Solicitors' Qualifying Examination (SQE) preparatory course and supports the School with its current initiatives. She leads on course delivery, course development and assists with strategic partnerships and initiatives. She contributes to knowledge transfer and income generating activities as well as assisting with the recruitment of new students onto our law courses. She is also able to provide advice on progression and career opportunities to current students. Additionally, she contributes to the development of the School's income generating activities such as CPD, consultancy, training and funded projects and participates in public engagement activities with her team.
She is also dedicated to improving the student experience and sees students as partners in terms of their learning journey. She is a true believer in 'experiential' learning and sees the importance of aiding her students both pastorally and encouraging their employability skills.
Prior to UCLan, Sophina worked at another Higher Education institute, teaching on their Solicitors Qualifying Examination (SQE) masters programme. She also taught on a range of subjects across the LLB, including Public Law and many legal skills subjects. Before she entered Higher Education, Sophina worked as a litigator in legal practice specialising in Civil Litigation Disputes. She regularly attended court and built strong relationships with her legal counsel. She has been part of cases that are both of public interest and high value including judicial reviews.
In addition to this, Sophina acts as the Chair of Governors to a local high school, providing them with guidance on governance and strategic decision-making. She is also a committee member of her local law society and helps to put events together and works closely with her local legal community.
