I have very many years of legal experience, both practical and academic. I worked for several years with the Lord Chancellor's Department (now Ministry of Justice) in the Crown Court. I studied for my law degree at University College London before taking the Law Society Final Examinations with the College of Law London. I completed my postgraduate research degree with the Faculty of Laws, University of Sheffield (which was a funded research scholarship) before joining the School of Law and Social Science at the University of Central Lancashire in 1994.
I am very interested in teaching delivery and assessment methods and try my best to help students succeed. I am a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy. I received the Award for 'Best Lecturer' in the 2015 UCLan Golden Roses Awards organised by the Students' Union and in 2012 I received the 'Most Passionate Lecturer Award' in those teaching Awards. I was a member of the Graduate Diploma in Law team, that won the UCLan Vice Chancellor’s Award 2010/11 for "Outstanding Practice in Teaching and Learning: Overall Creation of a Superlative Student Experience". I was also shortlisted for the Real World Learning Award in 2017 for my work in adapting the EU Law module to reflect the current legal and political situation, preparing students for the impact that Brexit will have on the profession.
