He has an interest in the use of creative methods for teaching like the use of juggling, music, storytelling, metaphor, and role play – contributing to the publication of the Macmillan Palgrave publication, Creative Education, Teaching and Learning.
He has a particular interest in Social Enterprise and the development of the Entrepreneurial mindset.
He teaches across Preston and Burnley campus and is an Integrative Psychotherapist, working for the University of Central Lancashire’s (UCLan) Student Well-being service.
Nigel has worked for Fylde Coast Counselling, Cruse Lancashire, Fylde Coast Academy Trust, Lancaster University and in Private Practice.
He manages our Creative Communities Group CCG_UK volunteering group and has worked on 'the role of the social worker in adult mental health' at Whitehall and various UCLan Equality and Diversity Conferences. He has presented work at World Social Work Day at Kings College London; The North West Samaritan’s Conference, at Lancaster University and he has organised and presented at mental health conferences at UCLan and Huddersfield New College; delivering the highly evaluated 'Towards a better tomorrow' at Salford University and UCLan regularly.
