Matthew Bates - Academic Staff

Matthew teaches on both undergraduate and postgraduate courses. His research interests include co-design and creation of games-based learning applications, especially within non-formal educational contexts.

Matthew joined us in 2022 and currently forms part of the first year team in Computing, supporting students with their academic development. He teaches on web and games modules, and supervises student projects.

Matthew has experience teaching at undergraduate, postgraduate and PhD levels of student development. His research activity includes working with multidisciplinary design projects and co-creating games for learning to support accessibility and wellbeing, with publications in both conference and journal proceedings.
