Madoka Thomas
Madoka is an Associate Lecturer in Japanese. She teaches undergraduate Japanese language modules. She is passionate about guiding students on their journey to learning a new language. Her teaching approach combines interactive activities, real-life scenarios and cultural insights. She has studied and worked in Japan, the United States and the UK.
Madoka’s role involves teaching first to final year modules as well as elective modules. She is also a Personal Tutor and Peer Mentoring Scheme coordinator in the School, supporting students’ academic and personal development.
Prior to joining us, Madoka worked as a Study Abroad Coordinator at a Japanese university, supporting Japanese students travelling to and studying at the University of Manchester and the University of York in the UK, as well as universities throughout Australia, Canada, China, Hong Kong and Thailand. In addition to working in the university sector, she has also taught Japanese in the corporate sector as well as to members of the public on lifelong learning programmes.
