Laura Miller
Laura is a Social Work Apprenticeship Educator for Apprentice Social Workers. She is a registered Social Worker with a background in statutory adult services, working in a variety of settings including learning disabilities, physical disabilities, older peoples long term conditions, and safeguarding adult’s services.
Laura’s role here focuses on supporting a group of apprentices and their employers through the Social Work qualification; this includes assessing competencies against apprenticeship standards.
Laura has over 15 years of Social Work experience in statutory services with adults in the community, 7 of those years as team manager in safeguarding adult’s services. During this time, she has been involved in numerous workstreams and pilots to develop and improve the service. She has a good working knowledge of current legislation, policies, and procedures.
Laura has also supported several newly qualified Social Workers through their assessed and supported year in employment (ASYE). Laura is a Stage 2 Practice Educator and has worked with BA and MA Social Work students in their adult placements. Laura has always found Social Work to be a hugely rewarding profession, which has changed her life, and those she’s worked with.
