Kelly Halmshaw
Kelly is a Registered Nurse and Specialist Community Public Health Nurse. She teaches across a range of topics within the pre-registration nursing curriculum. Kelly is recognised as a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy and has a particular interest in public health and organisational leadership.
Kelly joined the University of Central Lancashire in 2018 as a lecturer in adult nursing, transitioning to senior lecturer in 2023. Kelly has enjoyed supporting learners through activities including teaching, personal tutoring and module leadership. Kelly continues to link to the practice setting through the role as Academic Assessor.
Kelly qualified as a nurse in 2009, working predominantly in the community and providing nursing care in the home environment. Kelly engaged with further academic study to enable registration as a Specialist Community Public Health Nurse (Health Visiting) and non-medical prescriber in 2012, providing support to children and families across varying geographical areas. Kelly enjoyed developing trust policy during this time and engaging in additional roles such as practice development lead and safeguarding supervision.
