Kasun Gomis
Kasun teaches across a range of Quantity Surveying modules within our Construction team. This is with particular reference to construction quantification, contracts, economics, tendering and estimating.
As a senior lecturer, Kasun contributes to Quantity Surveying undergraduate course delivery. He also undertakes research and knowledge transfer through scholarly activities.
He holds a BSc in Quantity Surveying & Construction Management from Sheffield Hallam University (2015) and an MSc in Project Management in Construction from the University of Salford (2017). He has completed a PGCert in Academic Practice in Higher Education (2022) and is a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy. He is a member of the Quantity Surveyors International and is currently in the process of obtaining membership at the Chartered Institute of Building.
He has a growing research profile. Kasun is currently research active in Built Environment pedagogy, Circular economics, and 5-D BIM. He is currently working on his PhD through the publication route, developing a guideline in enhancing pedagogy within the Built Environment. He has already published in scientific journals and aims to complete his PhD by 2024.
Before academia, Kasun worked in the construction industry for more than eight years as a Quantity Surveyor and a Commercial Manager. He had worked in Sri Lanka and the UK, representing the client and on behalf of the contractor. He had specialised in commercial management, investment appraisal, procurement and valuations during his time in the industry.
After moving to Academia, he currently works as a lecturer, teaching Quantity Surveying and Commercial Management to graduate and postgraduate students. He has extensive teaching experiences in the UK, Sri Lanka and Hong Kong and was involved in Transnational education.
