John King
John teaches across a range of computing modules on BSc and MSc programmes, and he is a PhD researcher in the field of Human-Computer Interaction (HCI).
John's teaching role is focused on software development. He has also delivered modules in systems analysis, database design, and project management. John is able to teach a range of topics in networking and full stack web development. His research interests lie in manipulative use of technology, particularly the application of Dark Patterns within video games.
Initially working as a software developer, John moved into the Further Education sector in the mid 1990s and spent the next 25 years lecturing and managing a range of courses in Electronic Engineering, Computer Science, Multimedia Production, and Games Design. As a course leader, he validated and ran partnership programmes with us and with the University of Cumbria, including three Foundation Degrees and a BSc top-up year.
