Gemma is a midwifery lecturer based primarily at our Burnley campus. She is currently the year 1 lead, providing module leadership for four modules. She is the joint recruitment lead for both our midwifery long and short course undergraduate programmes. Her determination to support people to access Higher Education is exceptional, working closely with Lancashire and South Cumbria Integrated Care Board to collaborate on expanding opportunities for people in the local community. She is passionate about promoting education in order to reduce inequalities and increase widening participation.
Gemma is involved in numerous projects including the North-West NHS England Research Network and the 'Into Midwifery' Project which aims to support recruitment and retention in maternity services. She was involved in the Baby Friendly Initiative team here and is keen to continue teaching and promoting this topic. Her wealth of experience in various roles allows her to teach across disciplines and demonstrate leadership in both clinical and educational settings.
