Gareth maintains the four Darwin practical labs along with a Biomechanical PC Analysis suite and Foster Building Fitness Suite. Gareth sits on the School of Health, Social Work and Sport Health & Safety (H&S) committee which aims to improve safety standards and improve the student experience. Gareth supports teaching across all undergraduate and postgraduate modules when practical sessions take place in the Darwin labs; with additional group support for XS1902 with Dr Robert Allan.
Gareth became a lab demonstrator whilst completing his masters degree in Sports Biomechanics in 2015-6 and then progressed to the role of Senior Demonstrator in 2017. Gareth often represents UCLan at Qualisys and C-Motion conferences. Gareth collaborated with Dr Jonathan Sinclair to investigate the effects of medial and lateral orthoses on Achilles tendon kinetics during running; with the resulting paper being published in The Foot & Ankle Online Journal: https://faoj.wordpress.com/2017/06/30/effects-of-medial-and-lateral-orthoses-on-achilles-tendon-kinetics-during-running/ This paper was presented as a poster at the BASES Biomechanics Interest Group 2017. Gareth has supported Dr Sarah Hobbs & Dr Lindsay St George with their research in equine surface testing, this included use and maintenance of an OBST & OBST 2 surface tester.
