Donna is a Nurse Educator working in a small team of nurse educators from across the nursing fields to deliver skills-based sessions as part of the nursing curriculum. She can often be found in the skills labs delivering a range of nursing skills from Basic Life Support to Venepuncture and much more. She predominately works in the Trainee Nursing Associate Team working with, often, experiences support workers looking to up skill and bridge the gap between support workers and Registered Nurses. Donna participates in delivering a cross field curriculum but specifically enjoys the mental health and wellbeing elements of this work. She particularly enjoys working in the apprenticeship model where she can support students at a more personal level to gain the experience and qualifications they desire.
Donna has worked within mental health services for over 15 years before coming to work at University of Central Lancashire in 2018; firstly as a lecture practitioner and then as a Nurse Educator. Most of her experience has been working in secure mental health services with a range of different patient from women’s acute, male Acquired Brain Injury services and male step down and rehabilitation.
