Derek Flint

Derek is a Lecturer. His book “The Decision Paradigm” was published in 2023 and focuses on his core expertise in decision making. He is a level 7 qualified Executive Coach, taking a keen interest in bespoke development of talent early in their professional journey. Derek is also a Professional Masters student, studying elite performance.

Derek is a published author, with his first book 'The Decision Paradigm published by Austin Macauley in late 2021. He is undertaking a professional Doctorate, examining the development of constables as individual leaders.

Derek enjoyed a full service police career in the UK and Isle of Man, retiring in 2017 as an inspector. Key points in that career included armed policing command and development, custodial transformation and the management and investigation of serious and fatal road traffic collisions. He was also unique in holding the PR and Media Relations role for the Isle of Man Police, and is a qualified member of the Chartered Institute of Public Relations.
