David Ridley
David teaches across a range of subjects including English for Academic Purposes, Education and Academic Literacy support. His research interests are in the field of variationist linguistics. David is a qualified teacher with a Postgraduate Certificate in Education and specialist teaching qualifications in English to Speakers of Other Languages and mathematics.
David's current research is in the area of comparative phonologies across languages. This has implications for our understanding of language evolution.
In addition to his present role at the University of Central Lancashire, David has worked extensively in further and private education in the United Kingdom and abroad. He has also held a post as an external examiner at other universities and has been involved in teacher training for Trinity College London programmes. David was also an ESOL examiner for Trinity College for three years.

David researches into sound evolution in language looking at correlations between languages with regard to vocative and deictic forms.
