  • This is a studio-based course where you can make use of the very latest digital and printing facilities.
  • You’ll get the opportunity to spend a semester or a year studying overseas. In recent years students have chosen to study part of their course in Sydney, Australia and many European countries.
  • There are opportunities to create illustrations for live projects. Including the Macmillan Prize for Children’s Book Illustration, D&AD Student Design Awards, and the Association of Illustrators’ World Illustration Awards.

What you'll do

  • You'll have opportunities to create live project work for industry connections. And professional organisations like Tate Liverpool. Past students have worked with greetings cards studios, galleries and design agencies.
  • You’ll be able to meet visiting speakers and work alongside creative industry practitioners.
  • Enjoy visits from industry professionals, practising illustrators, publishing and design commissioners, and agents.

Modules

Adobe Creative Cloud

Unleash your creativity at anytime, anywhere. From September 2024, you'll have access to the industry-standard Adobe Creative Cloud package on both your personal device and on campus. Get hands-on with this widely recognised package and create a portfolio that showcases your skills.

Future careers in Illustration

We’ve designed our Illustration course so that you’ll be able to build up an impressive portfolio of work. Which will enable you to work as an independent artist or illustrator. 

Entry requirements

We will consider your educational achievements, predicted grades, work experience and personal statement. If you don't meet the grades for your chosen course, we will consider you for other programmes.

We know that many factors can influence the grades you achieve in school or college. If your life experience has affected your academic studies, we can take this into account. Use the UCAS Points Calculator below to check whether you are eligible.

  • UCAS: 96 points at A2
  • BTEC Extended Diploma: MMM
  • BTEC Diploma: DD
  • Pass Access Course: 96 UCAS points
  • International Baccalaureate Diploma: Pass including 96 points from Higher Level subjects
  • T Level: P (C+)
  • IELTS: 6.0 with no component lower than 5.5
  • GCSEs: 5 at grade C/4 including Maths and English or equivalent
  • Applicants are required to submit a portfolio for consideration - you will be sent an email by our Admissions Office advising how this should be provided.
