The Athena SWAN project aims to address issues around gender and diversity within Higher Education. It is an accreditation scheme administered by the Equality Challenge Unit. The University of Central Lancashire was awarded Bronze status in April 2014 and appointed an Athena SWAN officer to manage the project in November 2014.
In April 2015 the Athena SWAN agenda broadened to incorporate all schools within the university, service and support staff and go beyond gender into other diversity issues.
The University is now progressing the action plan and working on Department Awards for the Colleges.
