I am the head of Welfare, Professionalism, Transition and Careers on the MBBS programme, Theme Lead for 'Evidence informed practice of Medicine, lead for medical education research on the course and the head of the UCLan / Blackpool Best Evidence Medical Education (BEME) International Collaborating Centre (BICC).

I am a member of the college's Research and Innovation committee, leading on medical education research on the MBBS programme. I am the theme lead for the curriculum implementation of the Evidence Informed Practice of medicine MBBS theme. I am the head of the UCLan / Blackpool Best Evidence Medical Education (BEME) International Collaborating Centre (BICC), supporting BEME's vision and completing reviews and facilitating the review of BEME guides. I am active in medical education research and evidence synthesis, as well as general medical evidence synthesis for the Cochrane Collaboration.  I am a Consultant Paediatrician at Blackpool Victoria Hospital, with a special interest in Gastroenterology.

Teaching Activities and Responsibilities

I am the lead for the Welfare, Professionalism, Transition and Careers group, as part of the MBBS programme. This involves the development and quality assurance of Welfare and Professionalism related elements of the course. Additionally, I support our unique cohort of international students in careers related guidance and specifically to facilitate return to working as a medical professional post-graduation.
