Dr. Mai has gained over 20 years' experience in fire safety engineering and related fields in both industrial and academic areas. He has experience in code compliant and fire engineered fire safety strategy development for different buildings through UK, Hong Kong, China and the rest of the world. He is specialised in innovative fire engineering solutions and is skilled in performance based design using Fire Dynamics, Fire Modelling (CFD) and Evacuation Modelling (CEM).

Dr. Mai is a senior lecturer in the School of Forensic and Investigation Sciences. He is a Chartered Fire Engineer and has gained rich experience in fire safety engineering. He has been involved in both code compliant and fire engineered fire safety strategy development for buildings such as warehouses, residential buildings, offices, retails, shopping centres, assembly buildings, schools, hotels, and hospitals through Hong Kong, China, UK and the rest of the world.

Dr. Mai has over 20 years of experience in fire engineering and related services in both the industrial and academic areas, including 11 years in fluid dynamics and CFD research and studies. He is specialised in innovative fire engineering solutions and is skilled in performance based design using Fire Dynamics, Fire Modelling (CFD) and Evacuation Modelling (CEM).
