Deborah Slater is a Senior Lecturer in the School of Management her teaching is predominantly related to Employability and her research is focused on Astro Tourism at Dark Sky Parks. 

Full Profile

Deborah graduated from the University of Huddersfield in 1994 with a degree in Business Administration and Law, following that she went onto Bolton University to complete an MA in Human Resource Management, along with a PGCE and Assessors awards. Her Career at UCLan began in 1995, since then she has undertaken teaching and leadership roles across the university. Mainly based within the Division of Tourism, Hospitality and Events her role is predominantly related to Employability and focuses on Internships/placement co-ordination and the teaching of tourism, hospitality and event organisation behaviour and human resource management. Deborah’s current Leadership role is Equality and Diversity Lead for the School of Management.

In 2013, Deborah started working on her Phd research, Thesis Title: Astro Tourism: exploring the mediating effect of motivation on the visitor experience at Dark Sky Events, having successfully transferred in June 2015 she is due to complete in 2018.
