Claire commenced her nursing career in 1992 at Leeds College of Health, St James University Teaching Hospital and qualified as a Registered General Nurse in 1995 with a Diploma of Higher Education in Nursing Studies by The University of Leeds. After initially working in general and acute medicine she specialised in the acute care of older adults before moving into nurse education.
After over a decade working in a variety of different clinical positions within a diverse range of NHS organisations Claire transferred into Health Professional Education and has worked at the University of Central Lancashire since 2004, initially as a Lecturer and since 2007 as a Senior Lecturer.

Claire's current teaching responsibilities cover both Pre and Post -Registration Diploma and Degree level modules for a variety of courses run by the School of Health. She is a Module Leader for a Pre Registration Adult Field year 2 nursing module NU2214 Nursing the Older Person.
Other School responsibilities include being an established University Review Panel Member and her divisional representative for Knowledge Transfer Partnership Activity plus being a practice Link Lecturer for a variety of clinical areas in Southport and Fornby District General Hospital and Independent Health Care Facilities in Euxton.
