English for Academic Studies

Pre-sessional English

This course aims to provide students with the learning tools and study techniques for success on chosen UCLan degree programmes. Students who successfully complete the Pre-sessional English for Academic Purposes course, at the required level for their chosen degree programme, will be deemed to have met the English language requirements for their course at UCLan and do not need to take an additional IELTS test.

English as a Foreign Language

English Language school

The Summer and Winter School Language courses are designed to offer students the opportunity to join an active English language learning programme.  Themed classes are designed to focus on improving student’s speaking and listening levels and develop their confidence in English.  We also focus on vocabulary, grammar, reading and writing.

Using contemporary teaching methods, our approach is to study and learn English in an Active environment.  All study weeks include supported midweek trips and activities, with classroom work, tasks and projects linked together to maximise language and cultural learning.

Students will receive both a placement and progress tests and will be assessed through report writing and presentation.
