Our short courses are taught by leading academics and professionals who have a wealth of experience and undertake sector-leading research in their specialist fields, which include combustion, explosions and fire safety engineering; fire chemistry and toxicity; and hazards, disasters and emergencies. Programmes have been designed and developed with employers and professional bodies and taught by experts in combustion, explosions and fire safety engineering. You’ll have access to dedicated fire laboratories equipped with state-of-the-art facilities and equipment for small and intermediate scale experiments and facilities at Washington Hall, the UK’s international fire, training and development centre.

CERTIFICATE IN FIRE INVESTIGATION

Fire is not discriminatory. It maims, kills and destroys property irrespective of socio economic status and race. Effective fire safety is embedded in the concepts of safe building design, safe product design, risk management and community education. Inevitably serious fires do occur and a fundamental process in learning from these incidents is the conduct of an effective and efficient fire investigation to determine origin and cause. Mapped to the Skills for Justice Occupational Standards for Fire Investigation at Level 5 and offering a gateway to further progression.

The course caters for the needs of Level 2 Officers in Fire and Rescue Services and can lead to an advanced certificate with further role related development.

NEBOSH GENERAL CERTIFICATE

Designed for managers, supervisors and employees who have health and safety responsibilities, the certificate will equip you with all you need to know about how to manage workplace risks effectively

The NEBOSH National General Certificate is made up of three units which must be successfully completed within five years to achieve the NEB0SH National General Certificate Qualification:

  • Unit NGC1: Management of Health and Safety
  • Unit GC2: Control of Workplace Hazards
  • Unit GC3: Health and Safety Practical Application

NEBOSH INTERNATIONAL GENERAL CERTIFICATE

NEBOSH International General Certificate is based on international standards and best practice. It is made up of three units which must be successfully completed within five years to achieve the NEB0SH International General Certificate Qualification:

  • Unit IGC1: Management of International Health and Safety
  • Unit GC2: Control of International Workplace Hazards
  • Unit GC3: Health and Safety Practical Application

Recognised and valued by employers - both in the UK and Internationally.

The NEBOSH National Fire Certificate is based on UK law. It is made up of three units which must be successfully completed within five years to achieve the NEB0SH National Fire Certificate qualification.

NEBOSH INTERNATIONAL CERTIFICATE IN FIRE SAFETY AND RISK MANAGEMENT

NEBOSH International Certificate in Fire Safety and Risk Management is based on international standards and best practice. Designed for those people with fire safety responsibilities. The course covers the management of health and safety and in particular fire safety including the legal requirements, the principles of fires and explosion, fire prevention, protection to secure the safety of building occupants. Successful completion of the course will allow student to complete a fire risk assessment in low risk premises.

NEBOSH INTERNATIONAL TECHNICAL CERTIFICATE IN OIL AND GAS SAFETY

The qualification focuses on hydrocarbon process safety, so that candidates can effectively discharge workplace health and safety responsibilities both onshore and offshore throughout the world. It also highlights the importance of process safety management. The NEBOSH International Technical Certificate in Oil and Gas Operational Safety is suitable for supervisors, managers, safety representatives and newly qualified health and safety advisors within the oil and gas industries, both within and outside the UK and is designed to provide a sound breadth of underpinning knowledge that enables them to manage oil and gas operational risks effectively.
