UCLan academics want to know your favourite laboratory experiment

Remember fun days of exciting explosions and exceptional experiments in your school science laboratory?

Well the University of Central Lancashire (UCLan) and Royal Institute’s (Ri) Young Scientist Centre (YSC) wants you to cast your mind back and let the scientists know what your favourite daring demonstration is.

In the lead up to the official opening of the UCLan and Ri YSC, the researchers at UCLan’s Preston Campus want to hear about your most memorable experience in a lab so they can showcase them in a science demonstration show for local primary school students.

Dr Liz Granger, YSC Manager, said: “Whether it was an experiment, a demonstration or that time the teacher blew off the school roof – we want to hear all about your science stories.

“People remember the fun they had watching chemicals react to make bright lights, strong smells, different colours and loud noises so all we want to do is find out what are people’s most memorable moments.”

“Science experiments are so exciting and the best ones can stay lodged in people’s minds forever. People remember the fun they had watching chemicals react to make bright lights, strong smells, different colours and loud noises so all we want to do is find out what are people’s most memorable moments.”

The most popular experiments will also be filmed and shared across the Centre’s social media channels.

Join the conversation by tweeting @YSCUCLan using the hashtag #SciStories and share your experiences on the UCLan Ri YSC Facebook page. Get your suggestions into the team before the Centre officially opens on 18 March.

Dr Granger and her team will be adding their own SciStories and demonstrations in the run up to the opening of the Centre/British Science Week on their YouTube channel.
