Lizzie gives popular brand a fresh look

Graphic design student Lizzie Francis has wowed tutors at the University of Central Lancashire (UCLan) with her final year arts project.

Lizzie, 26, designed a brand awareness kit for real-life brand, Ella’s Kitchen, the organic baby food range.

The kit, which would be used to provide employees and stakeholders with company information, showcased the company’s brand values and ethos using traditional childhood toys as inspiration.

Lizzie said: “I wanted to move away from the bog standard information packs that some companies use for new employees or other interested parties, and create something that was truly engaging.

“Ella’s Kitchen is such a fantastic brand for children that I wanted my design to target adults in a similar way by embodying what it stands for.”

Lizzie designed a range of old fashioned toys including a jigsaw, traditional wooden train set and block puzzles that communicated the company’s key areas of business.

She also created a company fact file in the style of a soft children’s book.

All components of the brand awareness kit lean on the senses of touch and sight and are delivered in a colourful lunch cooler bag, reminiscent of a child’s lunchbox.

Lizzie said: “It was a fantastic project to work on. A lot of it was inspired by my inner child and it’s given me a real flavour of the kind of projects I’d like to work on in the future.”
