If you want to get that Christmas feeling then head down to the University of Central Lancashire (UCLan) for a Charles Dickens spectacular.
‘Dickens at Christmas’ is a festive treat of readings and acted performances highlighting Dickens’ Christmas tales.
Performed by Lancaster Theatre Productions, the free 90 minute performance will feature his most famous yuletide work ‘A Christmas Carol’ and also take the audience on a tour through Dickens’ life through the lens of Christmas.
‘Dickens at Christmas’ is funded by UCLan’s Contemporary Art Development Group and the School of Language, Literature and International Studies, and festive refreshments will be provided.
“This is a great pre-Christmas event”
The event has been organised by Dr Theresa Saxon, a Senior Lecturer in English Literature at UCLan, who has delivered a series of public lectures on Dickens across the North West.
She said: “This is a great pre-Christmas event. Everybody knows the story of Dickens’ ‘A Christmas Carol’ but this fun evening will feature an assortment of his works and in addition will give some fascinating facts from his life.”
‘Dickens at Christmas’ takes place on Saturday, 8 December, at 7.30pm in UCLan’s Mitchell and Kenyon Theatre. Doors open at 7.00pm.
Lancaster Theatre Productions previously staged ‘A Taste of Dickens’ at Lancaster’s Grand Theatre.
