UCLan fashion promotion with styling students presented diversity themed show at Fishergate Shopping Centre

A free catwalk show organised by fashion students from the University of Central Lancashire (UCLan) attracted large numbers of fashion fans to a popular Preston shopping hotspot.

The third year BA (Hons) Fashion Promotion with Styling undergraduates worked with the Fishergate Shopping Centre to arrange the event, which took place on 27 November.

The show, which was open to the public, aimed to inspire the people of Preston to dress in looks inspired by the catwalks. The students used garments sourced from the excellent quality and range of fashion items on offer in the Centre to recreate eye-catching looks.

The undergraduates celebrated diversity with a ‘fashion for everyone’ approach, using models of
all sizes, ethnicities and ages. Everything from the models to music was selected by the UCLan students, ensuring it was a fashion-forward event with a family-friendly atmosphere.

“The event went really well and we had some excellent feedback from the shopping centre manager, the landlord of the shopping centre and the management company to name a few.”

Nicola Palmer, Course Leader in Fashion Promotion with Styling, said: “The event went really well and we had some excellent feedback from the shopping centre manager, the landlord of the shopping centre and the management company to name a few.”

Sixteen exhibitors created on-trend scenes which were exclusively available from: Debenhams, Officer’s Club, Strawberry Moon, Evans, Roman, Primark, Temptation and Designer Menswear. Customers also had the opportunity to browse and buy any items they saw on the catwalk.
