BA (hons) Photography will offer you an in-depth, creative, and vocationally oriented education in the practice of photography. The course is taught by a variety of practitioners with extensive experience in the photographic industry, higher education and the arts and you can chose to study it full time over 3 years or part time over 4 ½ years.

If you choose to study BA (Hons) Photography through the combined honours route you will have the option to study with a range of other subjects such as Journalism, Film Production, Fashion and Brand Promotion and Media Technology. The course is designed to enable easy integration between these subjects and will give you an in-depth understanding of contemporary photographic practice.

MA Photography is aimed at those wishing to pursue a career in photojournalism, documentary photography, publishing, photographic exhibition or academic research. You will be introduced to research methodologies relevant to this level and will cover a range of issues facing professionals working in this field. You can choose to study this course either full time or part time.

In September 2011 we will be starting the UK’s first Masters Degree in Travel Photography. Through photography you will engage in debates such as global politics, sustainable development, environmental issues, conservation and colonialism. If you choose to study this course it will involve overseas placements and field work.

    We have specialist black and white printing facilities and you will get to do a range of workshops such as split grade printing and Lith-print

Degree Shows

Every year graduates from the BA (Hons) Photography course take part in the UCLan Creative Festival. There is also the opportunity to for students to exhibit at Free Range graduate arts fair in London. Here’s a sample of the work exhibited by photography students.
