Sats Poonian is the founder of online luxury travel agency Experfly, which has experienced success and growth since its inception and it began working with Northern Lights, a business support service at the University of Central Lancashire (UCLan).
After seven award winning years in the travel industry, Sats Poonian decided it was time to harness his passion into his own business, and Experfly Luxury Holidays and Honeymoons was born, a bespoke online travel agency which creates personalised holidays for customers to luxurious destinations, including the Indian Ocean, Far East and the Caribbean.
“Our ethos from the very beginning has been quite simply, ‘customer first,’ and I am proud to say we have perfected that service. Our commitment to deliver a truly bespoke holiday often leads to us working out of hours for clients,” says Sats.
Approximately two months away from the launch of Experfly, Sats was recommended the services of Northern Lights, which is situated in the state-of-the-art business incubation centre within UCLan’s Media Factory, to help give the business extra support and act as a base of operations.
Impressed with the strong community feel and support network, he signed up and immediately began taking advantage of the facilities there, including office space, a base from which to work and grow the business, workshops, mentors and networking events.
“Having an environment where the day-to-day issues that arise from running an office are taken care of were so beneficial. It meant we were able to fully concentrate on growing the business, while knowing the team was around us if support was needed was invaluable,” says Sats.
“All of the team at Northern Lights have been great. Whenever we needed anything the response was almost always instant – I find that to be so rare in a lot of organisations and business support facilities. Having worked with all of the team during our time there, they became an extension of the Experfly family – that’s not something which is part of their role, it’s simply going the extra mile.”
Following a rebrand, the new website – experfly.co.uk – is now live, with reams of positive feedback from customers and the travel industry. Experfly is also a proud member of the Travel Trust Association (TTA).
“2016 has been brilliant so far, in fact sales in January were up 375 per cent compared with the previous year,” says Sats. “It’s always rewarding to see bookings from repeat customers, or as a result of referrals from happy customers, testament to our core ethos of putting the customer first.
“We’ve recently signed up with several new suppliers, giving us an even greater competitive edge, and there’s lots more in the pipeline which we’re really excited to share with our customers.
