Alex Moran, a 2010 Graduate from the BA (Hons) Acting and in the same year won the Manchester Evening News Award for “Best Actor in a Studio Production”. Alex has worked consistently in theatre since graduating - his work has included national tours with one of the country’s leading touring theatre companies ‘Volcano’ in their production of ‘Clockwork Orange’ by Anthony Burgess. Alex is currently appearing as David in The National Theatre’s production of ‘War Horse’.
Alex said of his time at UCLan: “I consider myself very lucky to have trained at UCLan, it was a wonderful experience that I will never, ever forget. The course was a fantastic experience, each module introduced me to a unique style of theatre and performance. Every tutor treated me like a professional and did their utmost to help me improve my craft.”
Whilst in her second year at UCLan, Jordana had the opportunity to audition for a role at the Royal Exchange Theatre, Manchester for their production of Miss Julie. Jordana was one of a number of UCLan undergraduates to audition for the role; six were recalled and she was one of two to be successful. Jordana went on to perform to huge audiences and great reviews. The whole experience was a fantastic opportunity for a young actor. After graduating in 2013 Jordana signed with an established agent and has appeared in a national TV ad, featured in a short film and has landed her second professional role at the Oldham Coliseum in Willy Russell's ‘Our Day Out.’
Jordana said: “If it wasn't for my training and the close contacts that UCLan has with local theatres and casting directors, I would have never had the amazing opportunities I’ve had in the past two years. My time on the BA (Hons) Acting degree prepared me thoroughly for what to expect in the professional world.”

2012 UCLan Acting Graduate Louise Wood, played Cissy in her third year production ‘Punk Rock’ and also appeared in the 2012 UCLan Acting Showcase in Manchester. These two opportunities gave her exposure to some of the region’s leading industry professionals. Louise was snapped up by a top Manchester agent Jane Hollowood and was successful in landing her first two auditions. She now frequently pops up on our TV screens in the latest ‘Jet 2’ commercial and later in the year she will appear in two episodes of ITV’s ‘D.C.I. Banks’.
Louise was still studying at UCLan in May when she received a call to audition for the latest ‘Jet 2’ commercial and a week later was on a plane flying out to Spain to film the ad. A week later Louise was successful in her second audition and will play the role of Lauren Harris in two episodes of ITV’s new series of ‘DCI Banks’ starring Stephen Tompkinson.
Louise speaks very highly of her training at UCLan:
“UCLan has fully prepared me for employment as an actor and helped me to work at a standard that has made me ready for the transition from the security of university to working as a professional actor. The education and advice I have received from the acting tutors at UCLan was second to none. I was taught by an amazing team of teachers and I have only them to thank for steering me in the right direction.”

UCLan Acting graduate lands lead role in ‘Hollyoaks’.
2009 UCLan graduate Mandip Gill can now be seen as a regular character, Phoebe Jackson in the Channel 4 soap ‘Hollyoaks.’ The character of Phoebe is a fiercely independent and proud 15 year old, living away from home, who has had to grow up pretty quickly. Since graduating from the BA (Hons) Acting in 2009 and after signing with top Manchester Agent Jane Hollowood Associates, Mandip has worked fairly consistently in theatre and has also been very close to getting several high profile TV roles. Finally her big chance came earlier this year when she landed a six month contract with Lime Pictures who produce Hollyoaks.
Terence Chapman, course leader on the BA (Hons) Acting recalls Mandip’s first screen appearance at UCLan: “It was clear from Mandip’s assessment, during her ‘Acting for the Camera’ module that Mandip was very natural in front of the camera. For us, that natural quality, along with her technical ability and positive outlook meant that it was only a matter of time before we would see her on our TV screens. This is great for Mandip and we are very proud to see one of our recent graduates doing so well in such a competitive profession.”
