Outdoor Leadership student Alice Mees has secured a role as Centre Assistant at Plas y Brenin National Mountain Sports Centre.
Alice begins the position in May 2013 on a 15 month contract, having had an eye on the post during her time at UCLan.
“My lecturers mentioned the job often and they were really supportive during the application process,” said Alice. “Mark Hickman particularly helped me every step of the way and I’m really grateful to all the staff at UCLan throughout my course.”
Alice completed a work placement at the Tyn Dwr Outdoor Centre before to applying at Plas y Brenin, and she felt this was vital towards being awarded the job.
“Work experience gave me confidence in myself and my own abilities. This came from my degree, but the time I spent at Tyn Dwr was invaluable. I’ve always wanted to work at Plas y Brenin and I’m delighted I’ve got the chance to do so.”
