Football has always been a huge factor in Danielle's life since she was a child and her sporting experiences enhanced her interest in studying BSc (Hons) Sports Science at UCLan.
Danielle explains: "Understanding more about the science behind sport was something that I was very keen to do, both for the help it would give to my football performance and because I was genuinely intrigued about the subject."
After studying hard on her course whilst competing semi-professionally towards her dreams of being a full-time goalkeeper, Danielle was awarded a first-class honours degree. She was soon offered a professional contract with footballing giants Liverpool LFC. "The University was extremely supportive in adapting my lectures to my training and match schedule, which was invaluable to me and would not have allowed me to be in the position I am now,'"she says.
Danielle plays at the highest level of football in the FA Women's Super League and the UEFA Champions League. "My greatest achievement since graduation is retaining my position as a professional footballer following brain surgery, and making my Champions League debut."
Thinking ahead, Danielle aims to make her first-class UCLan degree as the base for her plans to become a sports and health counsellor and complete a master's in health psychology. "My time studying at UCLan has given me the bug to keep on learning and develop my personal and academic skills, which will undoubtedly help me in my future career path."
