UCLan and partners, including the Samuel Lindow Foundation, invested £5 million into the comprehensive redevelopment and extension of the Samuel Lindow Building in 2009.

This facility was developed from the original Westlakes International Research and Graduate Centre and offers modern facilities in advanced technology, communications systems and environmental performance.

With two laboratories and advanced teaching areas, the Samuel Lindow Building offers students a bright and modern learning environment. The upgraded building is also beneficial to education in the local Copeland area, particularly higher education teaching, research and knowledge transfer.

  • A BREEAM rating of 'Very Good' which highlights the considerable effort that went into designing a building for good environmental performance.
  • A wind turbine which generates 5kW towards the energy needs of the building.
