How to get to Preston

The University of Central Lancashire Preston City Campus is situated in the heart of Lancashire’s transport network. Preston is easy to get to from across the UK via road, rail and air.

By Rail

We are conveniently situated within walking distance of Preston Train Station making the train an excellent mode for travel to the Campus. Preston is a principal station on the West Coast Main Line from London to Glasgow. Routes to Preston run from London Euston, Birmingham, Manchester, Liverpool, Glasgow and Edinburgh. By Bus

Commuting by bus helps reduce your carbon footprint. Preston’s architecturally celebrated Bus Station provides a central base for the local and national bus and coach companies (e.g. National Express). Local bus service links Preston to Chorley, Morecombe, Southport, Leyland, Blackpool, Lancaster, Blackburn, Burnley, Wigan, Bolton, Manchester and Liverpool. Stagecoach and Preston Bus routes and timetables are available at the Transport for Lancashire website. The Preston City Campus is a short walking distance from the Bus Station.

By Road

Preston lies north of the M6 and M61 intersection, which provides links to Manchester. Access to East Lancashire is provided by the M65. The M6 and M55 provide direct access to Preston from Blackpool International Airport. The M65 has been extended to link with the M6 and M61 south of Preston allowing access to all parts of the North West and beyond.

We have a variety of car parks situated around the Preston City Campus. Permits and spaces can be booked in advance of a meeting and event.

By Air

Preston is within an hour’s drive of three major airports: Manchester International Airport, Liverpool John Lennon and Blackpool. Manchester International Airport is approximately 50 minutes from Preston by motorway and is linked by rail. Liverpool Airport is also approximately 50 minutes by car from Preston and serves a range of domestic and European Flights. Blackpool Airport is a 30 minute drive from Preston.

Preston has many parks, including Avenham Park which is a fine example of traditional Victorian parkland. Beacon Fell Country Park is located just 10 miles outside Preston and offers a variety of trails as well as spectacular views of the Forest of Bowland and Morecambe Bay.
