We are pleased to invite you to an exciting two-day conference celebrating the involvement of patients, service users and carers in Health, Social Care, Pharmacy and Medical professional education, training and practice development. The primary aim of this international conference is to provide an inspiring space for delegates to share innovation, critically reflect upon impact, explore recent developments in the field and promote new ways of thinking.
We invite contributions from a wide range of individuals including academics, service users, carers, patients, researchers, students, practice educators, public involvement leads and other stakeholders.
The following themes are provided as a guide for those submitting abstracts:
SUBMITTING YOUR ABSTRACT
An abstract is a written description that sets out what you would like to present and why (please define your work in no more than 300 words). Please submit your abstract by email to Comensusoffice@uclan.ac.uk. The subject line of your email should clearly state Authenticity to Action, and you should state in the email whether you are submitting a Showcase, Academic Paper, Poster or Workshop. Please also send a short biography of the authors/presenters. A panel made up of patients, service users, carers, academics and practice colleagues will review qualifying abstracts.
Please note that all presenters attending will need to register and pay the conference fee, which will be £250 for both days’ attendance, or £140 day rate.
Deadline for abstracts – Sunday 15 July 2018
To submit your abstract please email it to email@example.com Any further enquiries about submissions, please contact Lisa Malihi-Shoja on 01772 893818.
PLANNING YOUR SESSION
Your abstract should be written in plain language (for selection by a mixed panel of reviewers) and your proposed presentation should be designed so that it is inclusive, interactive and interesting to a wide range of delegates while provoking deep discussion.
We welcome proposals for sessions to be delivered in the following formats:
These will maximise audience participation, focus on a key area of involvement practice and explore the associated opportunities and challenges. They will be of up to 45 minutes in length.
These will usually share the findings from an organised piece of research into the patient, service user and/or carer involvement. Alternatively, they may be a theoretical paper that presents critical thinking in relation to one or more of the conference themes. Presentations should be of 30 minutes’ duration, including 10 minutes allocated time for audience questions, and may be timetabled to appear alongside similarly themed papers in the conference programme.
These will celebrate the work and impact of a specific patient, service user and carer involvement initiatives within professional education, training or practice development. Emphasis will be on the practice of involvement, partnership or coproduction itself. Sessions will be of either 30 or 45 minutes in duration, and will usually draw upon the personal experiences of project participants, as a way to highlight a range of perspectives on the work (e.g. patients, service users, carers, lecturers, researchers, students). Wider discussion around key issues is encouraged, such that delegates have an opportunity to share their related experiences and learn from each other.
These will be on display throughout the conference, with timetabled sessions available for the owners to showcase their work to delegates.
Speakers to be confirmed soon.
The draft programme will be available here after the submission process.
