This course is run in partnership with the School of Continuing and Professional Education (SCOPE) at City University in Hong Kong. At our Preston campus in the UK, we only offer this course as a top up/direct entry, allowing students to study Year 3 only.

This one-year course offers a professional combination of English skills and business knowledge, paving the way for a communications-related career.

This is a practical course, designed to top up your qualifications with the knowledge and skills that employers want. It focuses on the subject from a practical perspective, not only teaching you about intercultural communication and business theory, but also putting it all in a work-related context.

You’ll study modules on the nature of language and communication in professional settings, and on how cross-cultural communication works in the corporate world. But you’ll also have the flexibility to choose modules that fit with your ambitions, like Asia-Pacific studies, interpretation and translation, and host of business specialisms, from marketing to human resources.

It’s a distinctive programme and a powerful mix of topics. With the professional skills, cultural awareness and enhanced language abilities we can offer, this is a course that can help you for a career in international business.

Our English for International Corporate Communication BA (hons) course is designed to open the doors to the world of international business, giving you the practical skills for a range of careers.

This a course designed with employers’ needs in mind, with a mixture of business knowledge, high-level English language skills and cultural awareness. Its biggest strength is that it puts all of the theory and thinking you’ll learn into a professional context – giving you the skills to stand out in the workplace.

As a native speaker of a foreign language, you’ll have the chance to gain some vital work experience while you’re with us. You may be able to gain five-day work placements and short-term internships through the Worldwise centre – as a language assistant or student advisor, for example. There are also opportunities for national or international work placements through our award-winning Centre for Volunteering and Community Leadership.

Our graduates have gone onto a whole range of different careers, from public relations, marketing and export/import, to translation and interpretation. Many also choose to progress onto the MA Intercultural Business Communication or onto other business-related master’s programmes.
