Community Leadership

2 Years
September 2022
Campus Taught

Developed by community leaders for community leaders, our FdA Community Leadership programme, based at our Burnley Campus, gives individuals working at grassroots level the skills needed to make change happen.

You will develop skills in leadership, project development and management. Underpinned by the teachings of Paulo Freire, you will also gain a theoretical understanding of how to enhance sustainability within community projects and the tools needed for community regeneration.

Learning from the programme will be cascaded to peer groups through mentoring, empowering communities to take control of regeneration and positively improving community welfare.

Why study with us

  • Community Leadership at Burnley had 100% overall satisfaction in the 2021 National Student Survey (NSS).  It also received 98% for teaching on my course; learning opportunities and academic support.
  • The course provides excellent opportunities for international, national and local networking, which will enhance your employment prospects.
  • You can top up to a BA (Hons) in Community Leadership from where you can progress to the MA programme in Community Leadership.

Module Overview

Course Delivery

Following the pandemic, we have found that some courses benefit from a blended learning and teaching approach. Therefore, the majority of your teaching will be face-to-face on campus aside from a small amount of online teaching where we have learnt it works best.

Every effort has been made to ensure the accuracy of our published course information. However, our programmes are subject to ongoing review and development. Changing circumstances may cause alteration to, or the cancellation of, courses. Changes may be necessary to comply with the requirements of accrediting bodies or revisions to subject benchmarks statements. As well as to keep courses updated and contemporary, or as a result of student feedback. We reserve the right to make variations if we consider such action to be necessary or in the best interests of students.
