Biological Sciences have a strong research-led culture ensuring our teaching is always cutting-edge. You’ll develop practical skills in state-of-the-art laboratories as well as transferable skills for the future.
Some courses are accredited and/or approved by professional bodies including the Institute of Biomedical Science; Health and Care Professions Council; and the National School of Healthcare Science as part of Health Education England.
You will have access to industry-standard facilities including analytical suite, scanning electron microscopes, molecular biology laboratories and an NHS-standard biomedical science lab.
Our Healthcare Science programme guarantees 50 weeks of NHS pathology placements.
Pharmacology students have attended an internationally renowned Pharmacology Conference and gained complimentary student membership of the British Pharmacological Society.

Future careers and opportunities
Biological Science graduates could work in diagnostic and pathology laboratories in hospitals and other medical institutions or work in areas such as toxicology. Others may develop careers in the pharmaceutical industry.
Biology graduates may work in conservation and endangered species management. Additional careers could include science writing, education, outreach, communication, marketing or management within related industries.
All programmes could lead to postgraduate study or PhDs to become the next generation of academics and researchers or pursue further studies in dentistry or medicine.
